Manda Attempts to Make Skirt Steak and Asparagus: A Step-by-Step Guide

Welcome back to my kitchen! Now I know what you’re thinking, “Manda it’s been some time since you’ve shared a recipe with us since your delicious Meal Prep Sunday recipes. Where have you been? Have you even been eating?” Yes, I have been eating, mostly salmon and vegetables or Japanese food from Uber Eats because I just don’t want to get up.

But I’ve grown a little tired of eating the same fish all of the time so I figured I’d branch out and try something else. I went out to eat the other day at a Mexican restaurant and I had the best skirt steak and Cuban black beans. I liked the meal so much that I wanted to try it at home. I found a recipe for skirt steak on Simply Recipes. It seemed simple enough to try so I said that I’d give it a shot. I’ve already made black beans on this site already so I’m not going to repeat that, instead I decided on making asparagus to go with my skirt steak. Let’s see what we get!

I started with the ingredients that I needed for my air fried asparagus. I needed two stalks of asparagus, 1 Tablespoon olive oil, 1/2 Teaspoon garlic powder and 1/4 Teaspoon salt. After washing the asparagus I trimmed the stems off.

After trimming the asparagus stalks I combined them in a pot (If you have a mixing bowl, even better) with the salt, garlic powder and olive oil coating them generously. Once the stalks were evenly coated then I added the asparagus to the air fryer and cooked them for twelve minutes at 400 degrees.

While the asparagus were cooking I started on the skirt steak. It was pretty simple; I just needed the skirt steak, salt and pepper to taste and olive oil.

Since the skirt steak was so long I decided to divide the meat up into sections. I then used a paper towel to pat the skirt steak dry, and then I seasoned the pieces with the salt and pepper.

After seasoning the skirt steak, I used 2 Tablespoons of olive oil to heat in a twelve inch pan on medium high. Once the oil was hot enough I added the skirt steak and cooked each side for two minutes on each side.

Cook the skirt steak on medium high for two minutes.

And there you have it! Skirt steak and asparagus. It was pretty simple, right? It didn’t take too much time in the kitchen at all so I was able to have lunch and go about my day. I’d say it took about thirty minutes altogether. I will say to try and get a skirt steak that has very little fat. I had to cut a lot of fat off of my skirt steak, but besides that it tasted good!
